SAM SHRAGGE With deep sadness, the family of Samuel Shragge announces his passing in Winnipeg, on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at the age of 91. Sam was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Thelma. He is survived by his son Sherv of Parksville, BC; his daughter Reesa/Dolly Cohen and husband Lawrence of Winnipeg; three granddaughters, Jacqui Wasacase of Regina Beach, SK, Lisa Card and husband Mike of Vancouver, BC, and Michelle Cohen of Minneapolis, MN; one grandson Marc Cohen and wife Jill; one great-grandson Jamie Wasacase; and many loving nieces and nephews. Sam was a longtime Regina businessman, where he and his brother Dave ran the family business Shragge Steel. In his early days, Sam was a violinist in the Regina Symphony Orchestra. He grew to be a prominent member of the Regina Jewish Community, serving in many executive capacities, including president. Sam was an active member of the Regina Chapter of Bnai Brith, a founding member of the Wheat City Curling Club and was a life-long, Red Cross blood donor. But it was Sams gentle, kind manner, his generosity, his sense of humour and his integrity that endeared him to his family and the community at large. Even though he suffered from Alzheimers, he was still blessed with a gentle spirit, a warm smile and an affectionate nature. The family wishes to thank the staff of Tuxedo Villa for their loving care and concern. Donations may be made in Sams memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Phone 943-6622.
